Kasil 32 x 2

a) I got my first ebates check! A rebate! Over $35, representing a percentage from 3-8% on a variety of purchases. Lots of ebay. Lots of ebay. If you use ebay, ebates is awesome. (I didn't buy jeans, I bought Penny Loves Kenny sandals I have lusted for on three sample sales - I had a 30% off any one item on Smart Bargains so it was a total of $27 for the pretty pretties. With $10 left over I blew on Farmville. DON'T JUDGE.)

a

b) KASIL week! On sale at Billion Dollar Babes starting today, and peeps, those are some nice prices. (Billion Dollar Babes has cash back on ebates and shopathome.com, same percentage back.) I bought a pair of bermuda shorts for $17 total, so. As always, the larger sizes are nearly all gone, but I still looked.

c) Here are the Kasils my mom hemmed. I love them but between these and the ones I wore today, I am weirdly thinking I should have sized down with the democracy trousers and could have with the others.

d) I say weirdly because I have gone for months thinking "I am firmly a 32 in Kasil" but I find myself with these sand jeans and the lovely trousers tugging them up and the like. I have not lost weight or anything here, guys.

e) So, maybe that would work for you, too? It's frustrating buying online when it's so hard to find people who are above a size 8 but I think I would say Kasil is true to size, but if you can sometimes fit into a smaller size, possibly you could size down.

f) I ordered my shorts in 31 after today and yesterday's experience. I had to have both hemmed, of course.

J Brand Slash Berlin 31, Gap 30

Back! Swears! Let's start with a pair of jeans I got on sale at the Gap. They're from their 1969 collection and I went with the 30, not the 31 because I didn't want baggy. Let's bond on me being a sillyass - note in the top pictures, they are rolled at the cuff. Which is how they were in the store. I assumed they were cropped.
I assumed wrong. While out to lunch with my friend, I idly played with the cuff and realized they were not cropped! They were not sewn like that. Instead they have a distressed cuff that I might have put in the to hem pile if they were a smidge longer or not distressed. CUTE!

I really like Gap jeans, especially when they're on sale for $26.

As was the adorable skirt, except that was on sale for $21. There I got my traditional size 12.

At the bottom is the full price jeans I was lusting over. PATCHES! My friend was all, you could sew that yourself. You could have our friend, the tailor do it! I could indeed do all those things, or I could buy an adorable pair of jeans that had it already done.

Also, three shots of my adorable J Brand Boutique Slash Berlin jeans that I won from Denimology. People really win, etc etc. I got these in a 31, thank GOODNESS because I think the 32 would have hung off me. As it is, these tend to be a little baggy. They're not quite baggy, more like not snug. Also, they're fantastic. As seen on Halle Berry, man. My friend thinks they're ridiculous. My mom thinks they're awesome. Guess who I agree with?

Yanuk 31 & 7 For All Mankind jeans

You know, at some point I am going to figure out these pictures and blogger and stuff.  Also, it's only been two days, you can't really get addicted to Farmville, right?

First: read this awesome interview over at Denim Debutante. I think that last answer is word for word what I would say, only all eloquent and smart and stuff.

Second, I got, um, possibly two more pairs of Yanuks since I did the pics of the whole collection, but I only have pics of this pair I wore on Saturday.

The Yanuks are cute, but a little wide for me in the waist - I spent half the day pulling them up so they didn't drag down at the crotch. Belt definitely needed. On the other hand, I paid about $12 for a nice cute pair of faded black jeans and also, I love ebay.

Onto the 7s! Top pic: 32, shopbop, $55. Didn't have to have hemmed since they're technically "cropped" or something like that. The cream pair came off ebay, $25, already a perfect length, 32.

Next pic on the left is one of the pairs of jeans I've paid the most for, total. 32, from Rue La La, I think it was $99, plus shipping ($10) plus hemming. I've only paid that much for one other pair of jeans I own. Next to them is a pair from a thrift store, $30, and I don't even remember if they had to be hemmed. Possibly? They are also a 32.

31, if you can believe it. They fit like the Ksubis, a little snug but easily buttoned. They were $14 at the same thrift store because they were white and pink from a very very bad bleach job. Or accident. No idea. My tailor hemmed and dyed them. And now they are awesome. Next to them is 32, ebay, my very first pair of 7 For All Mankinds! They were also tailored, but mostly, I love ebay and also those jeans.

And lastly, 32, same thrift store, I think $25? They're irritatingly high waisted but super soft and, heh, genuinely distressed. And getting worse. Next to them, 32 again (I don't mean to keep reiterating, but it's just, the fit on these various jeans go from tight to not even snug and most of them are the same "size" but as you recall, the 31s? Fit FINE and I could almost size DOWN. Jean sizing even within the SAME brand drives me super irritated. It should not be this hard. Memo to people who make jeans: it should not be this hard to figure out fit.), bought from Macy's on sale, $103 on sale AND this is the part that peeves me: they're PETITE and I still had to have them hemmed. Petite! These and the 31s from my previous entry are my favorites in terms of adorableness and fit and awesome.

Dylan George 32 & 7 For All Mankind 31

I saw these 7 For All Mankind jeans in the Hautelook sale (for more than I paid at SmartBargains, so I felt all smart, even with the cost of having them hemmed) and remembered how much I love them. (I have also started on the pictures of all the 7fams I own. Started.)

They fit great and I love the color + the way the wash varies.   And the cut is roomy. Speaking of denim sizing and its irritations, I was thinking all day these were 32s and wanting to note they were roomy in the butt, and even some room in the thigh so for this cut, maybe people could size down or at least feel confident about getting that 32. Except they're 31s! I have 7fam 32s that are way tighter. Sigh. So for this ONE CUT, you can size down, I bet.

I wanted wanted these Dylan George jeans since November and I have a picture to prove it that I took in the dressing room. But I decided to run the one where you can see the zipper details and my cat decided to be all "look at meeeeeeeeeeeeeeee" instead. These are awesome awesome jeans. But they are absolutely true to size. This is a 32 and I would not size up or down. Though I could go more snug in the butt, so if you have more butt than me, I think the 32 would still work. Also, they're awesome. Did I mention awesome? Oh, $40 at Nordstrom Rack. Do you live near a Nordstrom Rack? I hope their jeans are as varied and discount-y as the one near me. Cause AWESOME. $40.

dl1961 julie crop 32, vintage1 31, goldsign 31

Denim sizing is, as noted insane. These Goldsign 31s were bought off ebay, they have a ton of cute details and contrast stitching. They are also a little tight. But I like them a ton. They're also a smidge on the short side, so I wore them with heeled boots so it wasn't obvious.  Comfy, but tight.

Next in pictures we have the vintage1 grey motos I bought on Beyond the Rack. I was super hesitant because the size ran only up to 31 and I could not understand why these were priced at $21. As you can see lower down, the price was explained by the marker stains on the upper thighs. But the 31? Is roomy. Room in the butt, thighs were not snug. I was tugging them up in the back at least twice during the day. So, yes, vintage1 doesn't go up to 32, but they are pretty far from true to size. I wonder if a 30 would have fit, for goodness sake. They are also AWESOME, by the way.

And finally! I purchased the DL1961 Julie "crop" jean at 32, it was a perfect fit. Totally true to size, gorgeous and not too tight, not loose. I really loved them.

And at 5'2", apparently the "crop" won't even need heels to look full length. Again: denim sizing is WACKY.

hemming!

My mom hemmed my Kasil democracy trousers, I hemmed a pair of Antiks I bought on ebay. As it turned out, the Antiks were a size too big for me despite being a 32, so I gave them to my friend who was like, maybe they'll fit me? They fit her perfectly. You'd have to be evil to deprive her of such jeans. Anyway - hemming! A pictorial.  Meaning there's lots of pictures and no more text.
